Apprentiship blog

Red phase

November 19, 2018

First post, fourth blog and starting the half way through apprenticeship at HolidayCheck, and not doing as well as I ought to be. Red phase it’s been brought to my attention that my previous blogs / frame works here, here and here lacked quality / relevant content to what I’ve been learning / doing during the day. My mistake and if uncorrected I’ll fail the program, in order to fix this in the next few weeks I’ve decided to re-implement a few things based on the feedback I’ve received.

In short these are things that I have to improve:

Structure / self organisation

— so much to so little time—, Time management and task prioritisation, there’s a good chance I won’t get everything done before time runs out so do the most viable first. Some emphasis has been put on Test Driven Development (TDD), that and chopping.

Communication

This seems to be relate to interpersonal communication skills, or maybe just talking about what’s on my mind or what I’m planning more often, I’ll have to discuss this with my team.

Collaboration with others

Actively engaging with other members of the program in activities like discussions and group activities, which are a scarce resource so I may have to improvise a few.

Results

Better and more measurable results must be delivered, issue / ticket tracking and observations are methods I can deal with. But it’s imperative that blogs are better and longer, so basically I’m doomed, it took over an hour just to write this.

What to do

Well I have a few weeks to try and move in to the green phase, and a rough idea of what needs to be improved on.
