Meetings and more reading

November 27, 2018

Today started of different from other days, I attended a monthly morning breakfast meeting the CEO of holidayCheck holds for new HolidaCheckers (employees) and people who recently has a birthday. It was interesting to hear each persons story and learn about the direction of the company in a relaxed setting.

Soon after breakfast we (the apprentices) had our daily meeting, then after that on to the first photo-shoot of the day. I skipped lunch so I could start on exercise 26 form learn-c-the-hard-way and try to figure out how to integrate TDD into a c project, macros have been suggested by my mentor and after the debugging marcos from the book may provide a similar functionality to a test frame work, I’ll have to test them to find out.

So after that I had a meeting with my Personal and practice manager (PPM) Jacek, mostly we talked about my progress from last week, and what I think about the improvement plan and how I’m getting on with C along with reading the documentation for a planned craftsmanship community here a holidayCheck. From there I talked with my mentor Wolfram about how I’m going to improve, test driven development (TDD) was emphasised it’s be clarified that TDD is not just a coding practice but a multifaceted methodology / philosophy.

Then from there we (the apprentices) had a discussion about the questions we where sent in regards to a group interview / photo-shoot we have scheduled for the end of the day, which was more like a get together than an interview as we had coffee and donuts while trying not to stare at the camera. It was good to hear other peoples stories about them-self and thoughts about the apprenticeship program.

After the photo-shoot I returned to the last scheduled activity for the day, writing this blog I didn’t even manage to get and other chapter of the clean coder read :/.
